The funny people in our lives typically get a pass when it comes to style. They make us laugh, so do we really care what they’ve got on? In most instances, it can be how badly they dress that brings out the best laughs. But self-deprecation isn’t something to base your entire career off. Unless of course, you’re Adam Sandler, who dresses so intentionally average that it becomes… good? But really, Hollywood’s funnymen have come into their own with their style, and as it turns out, they’re flocking to one New York City-based brand who churns out some of the best flannels and knits going—and no, it’s not Bode.

The deliberately low-key brand is called Corridor NYC. Quietly, they’ve amassed a following from not just Hollywood’s funniest, but a range of entertainers and celebrities. Drawn to the label's easy-going flannels, Corridor rides the line between the bloke who is interested in fashion, but might not be too caught up on the ins and outs of Saint Laurent’s latest collection.

They’re for fashionable people who want the style, without the effort. It’s probably why you might not see Corridor being worn by the same celebrities that balance their time between the front row of fashion week and their day jobs, instead it’s for the stars who don’t need the heavy endorsements, they just want to look good. The brand has done shoots with musicians like BJ The Chicago Kid and Kevin Morby, by no means the biggest names, but those that know, know. From sneaky appearances in 2022, to fully-fledged television showcased in 2023, Corridor NYC is what you’ll want to get into your wardrobe for all season dressing.

"THE GROUNDED MAGIC OF A GOOD CORRIDOR SHIRT"

Corridor doesn’t work on out-there branding—they were doing logo-less fashion long before Succession. Instead, the range of acid-weave flannels, floral knitted cardigans, and bright camp-collared shirts, exemplify the sort of subtler sect of menswear that is raising the bar for “average stylish guy” style everywhere. Showing its versatility for all occasions, Andy Samberg, the “average guy” exemplified, donned one of the brand’s signature knitted cardigans for an appearance on Seth Meyer’s late night show.

Founder Dan Snyder simplified the appeal of the brand in an interview with GQ in December last year, “[Corridor is] more or less a brand for people who don't want to be branded.”

It’s for the new era of menswear acolytes that has emerged over the past few years. Interested, but not obsessed.

Corridor evokes the best of today's menswear landscape. Even those not traditional associated with stylish fits, can put themselves into the conversation by showing love to Corridor. Nick Kroll has joined Aaron Paul in also showing love to the knitted cardigans like Samberg. Maybe it's a thespian thing?

The best part? You can achieve this same stylish look at a fraction of the cost of the luxury labels. Corridor is well-crafted and comes in a range of wearable colourways. The collections, from top to bottom, are typically relaxed in their fit, made to look and feel worn and loved. Matched with boots for a night out, to sneakers for a day out, or sandals for cruising. It’s an easy way to level up your fit with a touch of quality.

But don’t expect just the tokenistic “cut-above” everyday basics from Corridor. There's a method behind the product. Textiles are globally sourced across India, Peru, Italy, and Portugal, and the quality delivers for its price point. It’s the unpretentiousness of these well-made, deftly-sourced, relaxed fitting clothing that brings the appeal. David Harbour wears one in the most unassuming of colours on set, but the understanding is there that the quality can hold up to the rigours of shooting.

And while we’d like to think it's just the funny guys getting the last laugh, the other entertainers are just as big fans of Corridor. Joe Jonas, who knows his way around a knit better than most, is a big fan of the flannels. He’s mixing it with his wardrobe that is full of Bode and Conor McKnight (two other NYC Labels), Jonas the perfect fit for the grounded magic of a good Corridor shirt.

Corridor exudes an effortless sense of style, that isn’t over the top—exactly Snyder’s goal. Stocked at all the best global menswear retailers from Mr Porter to End Clothing, but Corridor can be found locally too at Maple and Above the Clouds. Targeted towards this emerging median man, Corridor is the more affordable gateway drug to better dressing. Trust us, all the cool kids are doing it.
