Recycled Double Twill Flannel - Black
Recycled by Dan is our first big step in becoming a more ecologically-sound brand.
The shirt is made from 60% recycled cotton and 40% polyester with corozo nut buttons. The cloth is a heavier-weight and appropriate for 3 seasons (Fall - Spring), with a slight nep due to the recycled fibers. After more than a year of research and development, we were able to mill and sew a fully-recycled shirt without sacrificing design, fit or handfeel quality - this feels as good if not better than a regular virgin cotton shirt.
The cotton is recycled from cotton scraps at the fiber stage, then respun and loomed to create something new and maybe even better this time around. The shirt is made in India with our longtime partners, who are both socially and environmentally focused and certified.
Dakota is 6'1" and is wearing the Recycled Twill in size M.
What does responsibility mean? People talk a lot about transparency and sustainability. I think the sum is responsibility. For Corridor, this means that we actually work in the factory with the tailors every season to create the garments and ensure the workshops are environmentally certified (ISO 9001) and socially accountable (SA 8000). You can feel good knowing where and how the garment was made. This garment was a made in 3rd generation, open air workshop with on site day care, garden, paying a living wage to the artisans who made the goods. The workshop is located in Madras, India and melds the new (Japanese sewing machines) and the old (hand embroidery, hand loomed fabrics, natural dying) for a product that is authentic and contemporary. This is a mostly woman operated factory and is partnered with a rehabilitation center for women encountering domestic violence. We work out of the workshop for approximately two months of the year.
